WordPress Surprises

Today, WordPress 1.5, dubbed “Strayhorn”, has been released. What a wonderful surprise!

You can grab yourself a copy of this final version in the WordPress Download section.

I’ve been following the nightlies for a while, and version 1.5 is a great package. Noscope has been upgraded from the nightlies to the final, and things have gone smoothly. My congratulations to the entire WordPress team.

As for surprises, I have one of them coming up in the near future.

    Migrating my design to a theme was quite a bit trickier, though, but definitely worth it.

    Ah, that’ll be why it only took me 3 minutes! I’ll have to look into themes!

    By the way your site is looking very nice at the moment! I like the new header typeface. Is that because you’ve ditched sIFR for the moment?

    Well, the most tricky part was to get the pages that had permalinks overlapping existing folders to work properly.

    By the way your site is looking very nice at the moment! I like the new header typeface. Is that because you’ve ditched sIFR for the moment?

    Thanks, and that is exactly right. It looks nice when font smoothing is enabled, and much less nice without it.

    Well, good thing I’ll be designing my theme from scratch, once I have time to migrate the engineered boulderer just have to finish my thesis first.

    Whoa, WP got much better. I tested it on my home-server, to check the new features.

    I thought of switching to TXP, but with the possibility to create different pages and different templates, I’ll stay with WP.

    By the way, Joen, how did you create this cool live-preview?

    Wow, that was easy. As usual. I made the switch to a 1.5 nightly about a week ago, including a full port of my design to a theme (with a couple overdue tweaks), after I moved my site to a new server. What a weekend that was :)

    It’s one of those things that could be in a few days (if this is a calm week at work), or one or two weeks if not. :)

    Aaaaah, one of them things. My list of “things I want to do” is currently up to something like 20 things that have all been put on the back burner for the past six months, including my migration to WordPress (perfect timing though, they release strayhorn and 2 weeks later I hand in my thesis).

    Dunno about my other projects though.
