Alex Gomez – Love Sex & Drugs (2008) Mini-Review

Alex Gomez (who graciously sent me this CD for review) makes rusty electronic blues in the same vein as Bob Log III and with a pinch of Lenny Kravitz and even Robert Johnson. That makes it good, especially — I imagine — if you’re experiencing it live and with a glass of whiskey handy.

Yet, somehow it’s falls squarely into an uncanny valley between Johnsons traditional blues and Bob Logs fast and pretty-ugly slideguitar rides. Which feels sort of odd, but which there’s certainly room for. If you like Bob Log, you’ll like Alex Gomez (and vica versa).
