X-mas 2004

It’s already last year. I celebrated X-mas in Denmark, but made a short round-trip to our house in Sweden prior to that.

Here are photos from that trip.

Note: Night photos are slightly modified for colour. This was not enough to save them, and obviously my camera is not cut out for night shots. I included them anyway because I thought they were interesting, despite their low quality.

  1. Oh man, I really wish we had snow like that. I can’t remember ever having a “white Christmas” in my lifetime.

Even when we do get snow, it usually disappears on the same day (or within a few days at most). Which is such a damn shame as I adore it. I love the quiet stillness that snow always seems to bring, I love the prettiness of it.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

While winter is usually white in Sweden, this year was actually an exception. The snow fell on the day I travelled to Sweden, and disappeared on the day I left. So in all fairness, the snow on the pictures are merely lucky shots this year.

I do agree though, snow is beautiful, and given a choice I’d choose a winter skiing vacation over a summer bathing vacation any day of the week.

It’s a very pretty little house you got there. Funny thing is that it reminds me of our house in Blekinge… Well, it’s red and white too… Anyway, nice pictures with all the snow and stuff.

I hope your house didn’t get effected by the recent storm. Ours was without power for a while, but since we don’t use it much during winter that wasn’t too much of a hassle.

    Jonas,

Thanks, I appreciate it. Blekinge is also nice, it’s a little south of where our house is.

I hope your house didn?t get effected by the recent storm. Ours was without power for a while, but since we don?t use it much during winter that wasn?t too much of a hassle.

It’s fun you mention it, because just a week ago, I was there to check! No, not much had happened—some of the railing on our barn terasse had blown away, but it wasn’t too secured anyway. Our hazeltree had unfortunately simply tipped over. Also, a branch of the cherry tree had hit the roof of our woodshed, and pushed off some the tiles, but it was easy to put them right back on.

Long story short: I’ll post pictures I took of the storm damages some time in the next days. The pictures are impressive in the same way Hurricane Ivan or tsunami pictures are impressive—that is, in a “we’re all so insignificant” kind of way.

They say the storm’ll cost 30bn Swedish Kronors.
