Since getting intimate with Photoshop, I’ve noticed how various digital effects affect imagery. I’ve especially started to become very aware of the digital grading that happens with nearly all video produced for television or the big screen.

Atomic Swing are gloriously reuniting.
Veiled in clouds of secrecy, plans are being laid out for a ginormous comeback with a new album of epic qualities and a massive tour whose likes have not yet been seen.

I for one, cannot wait. Atomic Swing is incomparably the best band ever in the whole world. Only surpassed by Kent and Sonic Youth.

A few days ago, I updated both my Noscope and Fauna weblogs from Wordpress 1.5.2 to Wordpress 2.0. The upgrade process was smooth and simple.

But it seems Wordpress 2.0 wasn’t quite ready for primetime, atleast for me. The problem, I’ve tracked down, is related to the way Wordpress now handles permalinks. It seems the implementation doesn’t work on my setup, which is to have my main blog in the /journal/ directory, and show only a digest on the frontpage. The result? /journal/ is now a badly designed 404 page, and conditional tags aren’t working.

How is Wordpress 2.0 working for you?

Finally unveiled, we’ve been working on Mindstorms for a long time now. It’s such a pleasure to see it launched.

And so the vacation is over, and how wonderful it was. Yet, returning home somehow seems just as sweet as leaving in the first place.

Since I left, quite a few things have happened in the closed little ecosystem where the bits you’re now reading exist; time to catch up:

  • Catch up on mail and news
  • Outline changes due for Fauna Beta 2 Done
  • Finish Noscope January (See the header?)
  • Upload pictures and thoughts from my trip
