Annoyances: Creative Capitalization

December 20th, 2006 by Joen

In this first annoyance of what I hope will become a series (no, I’m no longer a happy elf), I’ll attack a thing that bugs me incredibly. Creative capitalization. I’m referring of course to the capitalization of parts of a word, to ones own amusement:

  • MicroSoft
  • MacroMedia
  • PhotoShop
  • FireFox
  • DreamWeaver
  • InDesign (Yes, I’m looking at you, Adobe!)
  • NoScope

What’s next, AppLe? Your suggestions?

  2. Many of those aren't the official way of capitalizing it, but you are aware of that, right?

    Har har, good one.

Sure. I believe "InDesign" is the only one that's correct in that form. As such, it annoys me less than FireFox. The same goes for UltraEdit and similar apps.

Textile

Textile is a method that uses simple symbols to quickly write rich text markup. These are the most common:

  • _emphasis_
  • *strong*
  • -deleted text-
  • !imageurl.gif!
