Wordpress Feed Templates Comments 6 Comments

September 28th, 2007

Inspired by Grubers new RSS feeds, I’ve been meaning to add a small heart icon in my RSS feed, right next to full posts (such as this). Easy peasy right?

Well, yes and no. Gruber uses MT, which I remember has a special template for the feeds. Wordpress, does not. In Wordpress you have to edit [...]

New Thurston Moore Plus Hat Tip: Luisterpaal Comments 1 Comment

September 26th, 2007 ,

Good friend and colleague Hans-Henrik tipped me towards Luisterpaal, a dutch music listening site. True try before you buy: listen to whole songs and whole albums in good quality.

That brought me to the new Thurston Moore album, Trees Outside The Academy. Fans of best-band-ever, Sonic Youth, will know that Thurston is one of the lead singers, songwriters and guitarists of said band. He previously released Psychic Hearts in 95, and all I can tell you about his new 2007 outing is this: Damn it’s good.

Wordpress 2.3 Brings Tidings Of Taxonomy Comments 4 Comments

September 25th, 2007 ,

Wordpress 2.3 codename Dexter has just arrived. Among the notable new features are a minimalistic built-in tagging support system and an update notification function for Wordpress, themes and plugins. I have just upgraded the Fauna theme to fix stuff that broke in the upgrade and add support for the new tagging features. On that note, [...]

Here’s What I’d Want In The New Gmail Comments 5 Comments

September 24th, 2007 ,

Since I switched to using Gmail as my only mail client, email has begun working for me again. Spam is less of a headache and I can access my mail anywhere. Having learned that Google may be working on a new interface for Gmail, I quickly concocted this wish list for Gmail Gamma, in no [...]

The New Adobe Photoshop Logo: It’s A P Comments 11 Comments

September 19th, 2007 , ,

It only makes sense. After all, it’s been almost 10 months since the last rebranding. It’s about time. Right out of the blue (heh heh): it’s the new logo for the Photoshop “family” of applications.

Let’s put on our scrutinizing academic design goggles for a second and look at the significance of this design.

It’s a [...]

New Kent Single [Update] Comments 11 Comments

September 16th, 2007 ,

My little sister alerted me to the fact that best band ever, Kent, is about to release their new single: Ingenting (tr. “Nothing”) tomorrow, Monday. You can sample it now. Definitely different, but sounds like it has potential to me.

[Update]: YouTube video of the new Single.

Selected Quotes on Religion Comments 4 Comments

September 14th, 2007 ,

Via Reddit, my new favourite alternative to Digg I found this delecious selection of snacksized quotes. Here are a few:

If you can conceive of morality without god, why can you not conceive of society without government?
- Peter Saint-Andr?

When you give food to the poor, they call you a saint. When you ask why the poor have no food, they call you a communist.
- Archbishop Helder Camara

Kill a man, and you are an assassin. Kill millions of men, and you are a conqueror. Kill everyone, and you are a god.
- Jean Rostand

I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.
- Stephen Roberts

Any intelligent fool can make things better, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius, and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.
- Albert Einstein

I can smell it too. The air around here is stale. Here’s why:

  • I’ve been working on a mini redesign for Noscope which should be coming sometime in the next month or so.
  • I’ve had places to go, people to see and big changes to make.
  • The Fauna Wordpress theme is almost done. We’ll crank it out as soon as Wordpress 2.3 is here.
  • Other things.

Retrospectively Comments 2 Comments

September 6th, 2007 ,

I’m enjoying more and more the Gametrailers.com “video game retrospectives”. Most recently, the Metroid retrospective took me back to the first, classic, NES 8-bit adventure. Those were the days. Be sure to also catch the retrospectives on Zelda and Final Fantasy.

It is the timeless battle of the sexes. Rose and Camellia is a game about women slapping eachother. Coming to Nintendo DS soon.
