The New Adobe Photoshop Logo: It's A P

It only makes sense. After all, it’s been almost 10 months since the last rebranding. It’s about time. Right out of the blue (heh heh): it’s the new logo for the Photoshop “family” of applications.
Let’s put on our scrutinizing academic design goggles for a second and look at the significance of this design.
- It’s a P. As in Photoshop.
- It’s got a hole in it.
- It could be a single quotation mark.
- It’s a speech bubble!
- If you tilt your head sideways to the left, it’s a silhuette of a man yelling out loud.
- It’s glassy and in 3D.
The previous logo (which I assume was the icon-design for the CS3 package) was Ps. There’s definately some simplification going on here. P. Say that out loud. It’s something we all need (to) once in a while.
Insert joke here.
Meaning “we started the sentence, you finish it”?
Cue “hello Adobe, Apple iChat called, they want their logo back” joke. Also these.
I can hear it now: “FUCK! IT CRASHED!”
Meaning “this was made with Photoshop filters”. Where’s the lensflare?

Just as I was starting to get used to the CS3 icons… This is fugly! That’s the only word that comes to mind when I see it.
it is indeed quite fugly.
“where’s the lens flare?” hahaha!!
looks like someone tried to catch the iTunes fever, but just ended up with a bunch of diahrrea.
This logo isn’t replacing the Ps icon logo.
This logo is for the Photoshop Family of Products
Plus the hole looks rather uneven — so much for making circles. Other than the fact that the logo has nothing to do with Photoshop, photos, or even images for that matter, visually, I think it’s quite… shiny.
I think that’s my official stance: shiny.
I don’t think it’s that bad. But the previous logo was nice and simple.
Are they going to be changing the logo for the other apps as well?
It’s certainly not the last word to come to mind. It’s not as ugly as, say, an airport.
I hate to admit it, but Apple seems to be doing a better job of getting the glass right, at least.
Alright, but where will this logo actually end up? Is it only to be used on the website? Or will it eventually make appearances in Photoshop via patches, or something like that?
It does! I wonder how that affects the flatshaded 2d print designated logos. Have they “fixed” the hole there? Or is it just a silhuette of the glassy one?
Well, it’s a rather simple shape and it’s clear that they’ve put quite a lot of work into the 3D glass. So technically, I guess it’s not a bad logo.
It’s just hilariously ungood.
Don’t forget, this is the logo for Adobe Photoshop, supposedly the beacon of design worldwide.
wow, this is bad, talk about jumping on the bandwagon, this will looks very dated in a year or two.
reminds me of the open university logo http://www.open.ac.uk/
It’s so much of a nothing that saying it’s a “p” might be reading too much into it ;)
i use photoshop too :P why just look what i made today :)
