The New Noscope [Update]

And so, without much fanfare, here is the new design for Noscope. Lots and lots of things have changed, especially behind the scenes. Equally many are still broken or being upgraded. Lots of this to be fixed, updated or added soon.
Until that happens, here’s your chance to vent. Please, no bug reports yet, my own list is ripe and plentiful. Expect the full writeup some time in the next few days, detailing among other things why the homepage now says “Work” and “not taking clients”. I’ll leave you guessing on this for now, as sleep beckons me.
[Update]: After a few days of extra work, most things work as they’re supposed to. A few things still remain in limbo, chances are you’re not missing them. Probably this weekend I’ll get some time to talk about what the master plan is.

Noscope’s being uprooted ;)
I like the fact the first (front) page is filled with beautiful pictures. Makes sense.
Very much so. As it turns out, this was a much more complex operation than simply pressing “Activate”. Then again, I’m on WordPress 2.3 now.
I think so, too, and thanks. On a personal note, it feels better to give out this link to people now that they won’t get a geeky looking list of recent stuff but simply pictures.
I love the simple use of AJAX at the front. You’ve got me interested in what your complete plans are 0_o
Thanks, I was hoping someone would notice. Credits go to Michael for allowing me to modify his rolling archives.
It deserves a longer writeup, but bottomline: It’s positive and I’m excited.
Beautiful stuff here dude. As always really showing some great ideas in a simple but really effective fashion. Love the front page, love the little tweaks you’ve put here and there. Still need to check it all out further :)
Thanks khaled, I appreciate that.
I love all those new little details. The graphics really make the front page shine. I also love the graphics you have chosen for the first page of the front page, those surrealistic images have always been my favorite among your installments.
There is one (very) minor detail that keeps bugging me, however, and that is that I cannot see on the front page of the journal how many comments are on each entry. I’m sure you have your reasons, and I would love to hear them, I just wanted to point out that I think it’s annoying.
Very cool, and I’m happy for you. It can be very good to uproot your life, and I hope it will be a good experience for you.
Thanks Jonas, for the kind words.
I do believe I have a good reason, and I’m going to detail it more in a future post. Mainly though, I want to separate work and fun by a firewall so that uncensored fun and play is still possible in the journal, whilst the “default page” is worksafe. Essentially it means the journal section is to be the default bookmark now. Reminds me, I have to update the feed to reflect that.
