It’s A Round World

January 8th, 2008 ,

Beautiful rounded pictures by Alexandre Duret-Lutz. Unless the chap has a really wierd camera, I would guess it’s the work of Photoshops “polar coordinates” filter, combined with a little careful retouching. Well done.

  1. Wow, that’s really wild. Makes me wish that I had some 360 degree panoramas to play with.

  2. from the looks of it, it would also have to involve multiple photographs and/or autostich, or hand-arranging.

  3. There has to be an easier way.

Here’s a quick test using polar coordinates.

    Full image

    The process was:

    1. Find landscape picture
    2. Flip vertically
    3. Crop to a square
    4. Run Distort > Polar coordinates filter
    5. Clonestamp seam
    6. Add extra shadow and highlight for fun ball effect

Perhaps it deserves a dedicated tutorial?

  4. Joen, do it! :D
