Quick Thoughts On Windows Phone 7
Windows just announced Windows Phone 7 (previously known as Windows Mobile 7). Here’s a video, and after that, some thoughts on the offering.
Musings:
I like how the lock screen is not a slider, but a “cover” you slide upwards.
I’m noticing the Internet Explorer icon, and thinking to myself: Why not rebrand Internet Explorer Mobile as simply [...]
Directory Opus 9.5 Mini-Review
GPSoftwares Directory Opus (or Dopus in slang) is a Windows Explorer replacement. It adds built-in FTP, advanced multi-file renaming capabilities, dual column customizable interfaces and a plethora of other features. I just purchased it at a 30% year-end discount, and I have to admit it’s the best bucks I’ve spent in a long time. Directory [...]
Go On, Stroke It
StrokeIt adds mouse gestures to Windows and all its applications. I’ve been using it for years; gestures are nothing new, but StrokeIt 0.9.6 is. It’s Windows Vista and 7 compatible, and works superbly as always.
Gestures are invoked by holding the right mouse button and doing a gesture. My favourite gestures (which I’m having a hard [...]
A Few Quick Thoughts On Gmails New Labels
Google just revamped their label system for Gmail, probably because only power users understood how to leverage their potential. The new system is more like Google Docs, which means labels now behave more like folders. Only, you can still file one email in two labels, which you wouldn’t be able to if they really were [...]
Like Tabs In the Rain: How Safari 4s Tabs-On-Top Could Have Worked
It seems the general reaction to Apple pulling out their Safari 4 Beta “tabs on top” feature has been generally positive. The sentiment seems to indicate the feature to be so inferior to the workaday solution of having tabs below the address-bar, that tabs-on-top shouldn’t even be optional for those of use who understand their [...]
Is There An “OSX Preview”-Like App For Windows?
Working on the girlfriends Mac, one of the features about OSX I’ve come to like the most, is the Preview app. It works quite simply: you drag a bunch of files on to the Preview icon, located in the dock. The result, your selected files are added to a “drawer” in a preview window, where [...]
So Safari 4 Ditched The Tabs-On-Top Again
During last nights special Apple event, the final version of Safari 4 was released. And with that, they ditched one of the most interesting new features that was introduced in the beta, tabs on top (here’s a screenshot). Apparently they couldn’t make it userfriendly enough. Pussies.
Transport Tycoon Deluxe (OpenTTD)
In case you felt like spending part of your saturday playing with model trainsets but didn’t have any, look no further than OpenTTD. OpenTTD is a rewrite of the classic Transport Tycoon Deluxe game, but with lots of tweaks that makes it feel sorta modern. It’s definately worth an afternoon.
Through The Looking Glass, Or How My Great Macbook Adventure Was All Too Brief
I had heard of it before. I had even seen the wonder for myself. The 15” unibody Macbook Pro. Cut from a single piece of aluminum, ornamented with unicorn horn and cooled only by dodo tears. It was a one of a kind machine, and no other laptop in the world could compare. If I [...]
